VS Debate — Privacy Policy

VS Debate (“we”) is a game where two people debate a motion and an AI judge scores it. This policy says what we collect, why, who helps us, and how you delete it.

What we collect

• Account. Your email address (or the private relay address Apple gives us), the sign-in method (Apple, Google or email link) and a user ID. We never see your Apple or Google password.
• Profile. Your username, birth year (to check you are 13 or older and to switch on 18+ settings), time zone (for daily resets and quiet hours), the topics you like, your chosen skins and medals, your rating, level and match statistics.
• What you write and say. The speeches you type or dictate in a debate, your draft text, the version cleaned of typos for your opponent, your votes on other people’s debates, topics you write for a custom room, and reports you send. Dictation uses your phone’s speech recognition.
• Game and purchase records. Matches, results, Sparks and Laurels balances and history, check-ins, ads you watched for rewards, and subscription or purchase status (the store handles your payment; we do not see your card).
• Device. A push notification token if you allow notifications, and basic technical logs.

How we use it

To run matches and matchmaking, judge debates, keep ratings and rewards fair, show your profile to other players, send the notifications you allow, prevent abuse, and improve the game.

AI providers

Your speeches and the motion are sent to AI providers to judge the debate, tidy your wording for your opponent, play an AI opponent, find holes in an argument and screen topics and speeches for abuse. Today these are OpenAI and Anthropic. We send only what is needed for that request (not your email or name). We do not sell your data and do not allow these providers to use it to train their models under our agreements with them.

Who sees what

Other players see your username, skins, medals, rating, level and record. A debate you took part in can be shown to other players in the Judge feed (spectators vote on it) with your username. Friends and room invitations are only between you and the other player.

Services we use

Supabase (hosting and database), OpenAI and Anthropic (AI), Google AdMob (ads for free players), RevenueCat and the Apple App Store / Google Play (purchases and subscriptions), Firebase Cloud Messaging (notifications). Ads may use an advertising ID; you can limit that in your phone’s settings.

Keeping and deleting your data

Delete your account any time in Settings > Delete account. That permanently removes your profile, birth year, time zone, interests, rating, Sparks, Laurels, skins, medals, friends, votes, devices and settings. Debates you finished stay in your opponents’ history and in the Judge feed without your name; the speeches in them remain as anonymous text. Deleting the account does not cancel a store subscription: cancel it in your App Store or Google Play subscriptions. If you signed in with Apple we also end the Apple authorization. We may keep limited records where the law requires it (for example purchases and abuse reports).

Your choices and rights

You can turn notifications off in Settings, block players, and ask us for a copy of your data or a correction at the address below. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California) you may have further rights, and you can complain to your data protection authority.

Children

VS Debate is for people 13 and older. We ask your birth year when you set up your profile and do not let younger people in. Mature motions are limited to players 18 and older who switch them on. If you think a child has an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Data travels over HTTPS and is stored with access rules per player. No system is perfectly secure.
